The Finnish Sanctions and Export Control Society is a part of the network of International Sanctions and Export Control Societies. The international network is the only true non-profit industry association established to support industry in managing challenges related to the convergence of international security and emerging multilateral trade regulations. The society’s goal is to strengthen industry approaches to economic sanctions and export controls by establishing a platform to provide risk, threat, and legal-based approaches to global trade compliance, and by serving as a vehicle to develop a strong and lasting export controls and sanctions compliance ecosystem. The society is an inclusive, collaborative organization welcoming members from all industries and other international organizations with an interest in, or exposure to sanctions and export controls requirements.
Aleksi Pursiainen served as the former chief sanctions counsel at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where he participated in the drafting of hundreds of EU sanctions regulations and related national laws as well as led the Ministry’s outreach to industry.

Charles C. Adams, Jr., is the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Finland (2015-2017) and Global Co-Head of Orrick’s International Arbitration Practice Group based in Geneva. Charles is acknowledged to be among the most prominent international arbitration experts in the world.
Kristiina Helenius is the CEO and founder of Miltton USA. Prior to Miltton, Kristiina worked as CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Finland and as the Press Secretary for the Embassy of Finland in Washington, DC.
Samuli Simojoki possesses 20 years of experience in technology law. He has served as an advisor to the board of numerous companies in Finland and the Chair of the International Bar Association’s Media Law Committee.
Rosa Rosanelli is Patria Group’s VP, Head of Compliance. She is author of a Handbook on US export controls explained to the European exporter published by Liege University and chairs ASD Export Control Committee.
Bengt Westerholm is the CEO of Beweship Oy, serves on the Board of the Finnish Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (FIFFLA) and the Board of the Nordic Freight Forwarders association. Bengt possesses 30+ years in logistics and freight forwarding.
