Finnish Sanctions and Export Control SocietY
The Finnish Sanctions and Export Control Society is a part of the network of International Sanctions and Export Control Societies. The international network is the only true non-profit industry association established to support industry in managing challenges related to the convergence of international security and emerging multilateral trade regulations. The society’s goal is to strengthen industry approaches to economic sanctions and export controls by establishing a platform to provide risk, threat, and legal-based approaches to global trade compliance, and by serving as a vehicle to develop a strong and lasting export controls and sanctions compliance ecosystem. The society is an inclusive, collaborative organization welcoming members from all industries and other international organizations with an interest in, or exposure to sanctions and export controls requirements.

Aleksi Pursiainen served as the former chief sanctions counsel at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where he participated in the drafting of hundreds of EU sanctions regulations and related national laws as well as led the Ministry’s outreach to industry.
